Street Tree Surveyors

Street tree surveyors asses the overall condition, crown dieback and potential damage of street trees. This determines the aftercare needed for a specific tree and also informs decision making around species selection and location mapping for future tree planting. To-date we’ve surveyed more than 3,000 trees.

We're currently looking for volunteers to work in Soho & Jewellery Quarter, Lozells, Tyseley & Hay Mills, Shard End and Glebe Farm & Tile Cross.

Tree Care Team

The tree care team maintain all the trees planted by Birmingham TreePeople for at least three years after planting. We also work in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Kier to care for other trees in parks and on highways and housing land. The tree care team’s work is identified by the survey team and the activities are seasonal with mulching, watering, repairs, formative pruning and retraining taking place at various times throughout the year.

Nursery Volunteers

The community tree nursery requires lots of work and we’re really grateful for the support of our volunteer Tree People. We run weekly work sessions to support the city’s future trees. The nursery is an open space for new ideas and together we experiment with species, technique and management. Alongside the regular tasks, we’re making a space for greater biodiversity and sustainability. You’ll help build habitat, a covered teaching space and irrigation systems with harvested rainwater.
