Reaching Communities 2024-2027

In 2024 we were awarded significant funding from The National Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund to delivery three years of community engagement work across six of Birmingham’s wards.

The core aim of the project was to improve health and wellbeing outcomes through engagement with and education about urban trees. Together with multiple community organisations and individuals we’ve:

Planted over 350 large trees in areas of low canopy cover;
Delivered free training to over 290 people of all ages;
Created more than 20 Tree Trails for people to explore Birmingham’s parks and green spaces and;
Built a strong staff team to help increase capacity for the charity and build resilience.

The work has been focussed in Alum Rock, Bromford & Hodge Hill, Newtown, Jewellery Quarter & Soho, Nechells and Lozells and we continue to work in all of these wards to support both trees and our project partners.
